A 43-year-old man against whom an overseas travel ban had been obtained on charges of terrorism financing, was arrested upon his return to Sri Lanka at the Katunayake Airport yesterday.Â
The Police said the suspect, who had left Sri Lanka in 2009 and had obtained British Citizenship, was found to have collected money to finance a terrorist group and distributed such funds in the Colombo and Vanni areas.
As per an overseas travel ban issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court per a request of the Colombo North Crimes Division, the suspect was arrested upon his return to Sri Lanka yesterday.
The suspect is a 43-year-old, originally from Kilinochchi, who is now a holder of British citizenship.
The Airport Police and the Colombo North Crimes Division are conducting further investigations. (Islandnews)
