Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, has announced yesterday (29th) that the construction of the world’s largest airport, which can handle 260 million passengers annually, has started in Dubai.
At the cost of 34.85 billion dollars, Al Maktoum International Airport, currently known as Dubai World Central, will be developed as the world’s largest airport, and it is reported that this airport will consist of 400 gates and 5 runways.
According to Al Maktoum, who is the Ruler of the City of Dubai as well as the Prime Minister and the Vice President, after the opening of the huge passenger terminal building of Al Maktoum International Airport, which is five times the size of Dubai International Airport, all the flight operations of Dubai International Airport will be transferred to Al Maktoum International Airport in the coming years.
The rulers of Dubai have planned to build a new city around the Al Maktoum International Airport, which is located in the southern part of the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and to build one million houses there.
Currently, the world’s largest airport is considered to be the King Fard International Airport located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
