Kamindu Mendis has won the ICC Player of the Month Award for September 2024.
The names of Sri Lanka’s Prabhat Jayasuriya and Australia’s Travis Head were proposed for this award, and among them, Kamindu has won this award based on his performances against England and New Zealand in the past month.
In the past month, Kamindu played four Test matches and scored 451 runs at a batting average of 90.20.
He managed to cross the 1000-run mark by playing his eighth Test match (13th innings) last month, and Kamindu became the fastest player to reach the milestone in the past 75 years of history.
He also managed to score 182 not out as the highest score of his Test career against New Zealand last month.
