Kochi (Kerala) [India]April 18: Viju Jeremiah Traven, widely known as V J Traven, is a contemporary Christian recording artist, prophetic worship minister, preacher, leadership coach, music producer, and author from India. Born in 1965 to K V Varghese and Gracy in Kochi, he began his musical journey in 1989 by forming the local band ‘Exodus,’ which later evolved into a prominent church ministry in 2002.
In the early 1990s, V J Traven’s distinctive tenor voice gained recognition during a music workshop in Mumbai conducted by Scottish Christian artist Ian White. He subsequently joined the mainstream rock band Shiva as their lead vocalist in 1991, performing across India at major venues. His talent attracted attention from international figures, including Peter Jenner, former manager of Pink Floyd.
After a period in secular music, personal challenges and a spiritual calling led him to dedicate his life to Christian ministry. He co-founded the Exodus Church in Kochi, which has grown into a congregation of over 600 members with branches in various locations.
V J Traven has released several contemporary Christian songs that have touched many hearts, including “Yeshuve Karunamayane,” “Ente Yeshu Nayakane,” and “Arms of Mercy.” His music has been featured on platforms like MTV, God Channel, and TBN.
