A 07-year-old child has died after being electrocuted in the Wilgamuwa area in the Matale District.
According to the Police, the child had been electrocuted after coming into contact with a protective electric fence setup around his house to prevent elephant attacks.Â
Preliminary investigations reveal that the child’s parents activated the electric fence from 06.00 pm to 06.00 am daily, and had forgotten to disconnect the power yesterday.Â
As a result, the child who had gone to pick fruits in the backyard had died after being electrocuted. (Newswire)
