The Essendon Royals are thrilled to announce that young full-back Will Thomason has re-signed with the senior men’s squad for the 2025 VPL2 (Victoria Premier League) season.
Thomason, who has previously trained with junior teams at Melbourne Victory, Port Melbourne Sharks, Western United, and Melbourne Knights, and was part of Oakleigh Cannons’ senior squad, made a significant impact in his debut season with the Royals, securing a starting position. from day one.
In 21 appearances, Thomason scored twice, each in memorable moments. His first goal was a late winner against Nunawading City in April, followed by a last-minute equalizer at home against Doveton in June.
His impressive performances garnered the attention of the Sri Lanka men’s national team, who invited him to their training camp before the October international window, paving the way for his debut with the Golden Army as a new dual citizen.
Thomason re-joins VPL2 Golden Boot winner Jordan Adeyemi, team captain and VPL2 Players’ Player of the Year Graham Kelly, and Irish striker Dean Clarke among the club’s key re-signings for the 2025 season.
