Skipper Anuka Wijewardhane drives Mahanama to victory


U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament 2024/25

Mahanama College, Colombo beat St. Benedict’s College, Colombo comprehensively in the only game played today (11th November) in the U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament 2024/25.

Mahanama College resuming on their overnight score of 171/6 added 43 more runs to their total as the Benedictine bowlers wrapped up the Mahanama innings. Chamika Heenatiagala top scored for with runs. Mevan Dissanayake and Samindu Peiris shared 7 wickets between them to restrict Mahanama to 214.

St. Benedict’s College second innings did not last long for a long period courtesy of some exquisite bowling of the Mahanama bowlers led by the skipper himself. Skipper Wijewardhane grabbed 4 wickets for just 28 runs. The Benedictines were bowled out for just 95 runs setting their opponents a target of just 13 runs.

The Mahanama batters did not waste any time reaching the target as they cruised to their target inside 3 overs.

Result – Mahanama College, Colombo Won by 10 Wickets.
