A 16-year-old schoolboy has died after being trapped under an earth embankment that had collapsed due to heavy rains in the Gallewatte area in Medamahanuwara in the Teldeniya Police Division.
The Police told Islandnews that the earth embankment had collapsed around 04.30 am today trapping the sleeping teenager between a wall of the house and soil.
Despite having been rescued and admitted to the Medamahanuwara Hospital, the boy had died while receiving treatment.Â
A 61-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy who had also sustained injuries in the incident are undergoing treatment. (Islandnews)
