Mr. Sugath Thilakaratne, one of the greatest sprinters born in Sri Lanka, has been named as the new Deputy Sports Minister.
Today (21) Sugath Thilakaratne, who was appointed as a National List Member representing the National People’s Power which won the 2024 parliamentary election, was named as the new Deputy Sports Minister.
Sugath Thilakaratne, who can be mentioned as an indelible name in Sri Lankan athletics, even got a mandate to represent Sri Lanka at the Olympic Games.
Sugath has fond memories for Sri Lanka in Olympic historywill also make history as the first Olympian to be elected to the Sri Lankan Parliament.
