A 70-year-old woman was found murdered at the Kolomthota Sarasavi Uyana housing complex in Kalinga Mawatha in Kirulapone last afternoon.
According to the Police Media Unit, the woman was residing at a house on the second floor of the housing complex along with her daughter and grandchild.
Preliminary investigations have found that the woman had been murdered with gold jewellery and money being stolen from the house.
The Police said the woman had been alone at home at the time of the incident and that her daughter had left for work dropping off her child at school on the way. (Islandnews)
