The Attorney General today informed the Supreme Court that the Cabinet has decided to award free marks for three contested questions in the Grade 05 scholarship exam.
Citing the undue pressure placed on students, it had also been decided to not reconduct the examination.
The development follows an interim order issued by the Supreme Court on November 18, halting the evaluation of answer sheets and the release of results for the scholarship examination held on September 15 this year.
The court’s decision came after considering four fundamental rights petitions that highlighted the alleged leakage of several exam questions, which petitioners argued had caused significant unfairness to candidates. (Islandnews)
