A 73-year-old woman was reported dead after being shot by unidentified gunmen in the Bogahawewa area in Padaviya last night.
The Police said two unidentified men on a motorcycle had shot the woman while she was at her residence, and had fled the area following the incident.
The woman had succumbed to injuries while being admitted to the Padaviya Hospital.
The Police suspect that a T-56 weapon had been used in the shooting, while the cause or the identities of the suspects are yet to be found.
The Padaviya Police is conducting investigations into the incident. (Islandnews)
