CitizensConnect, a mobile-based storytelling platform, celebrated a major milestone by honouring the work of over 50 citizen journalists who contributed to its success.
The platform published its 1,000th story and marked the achievement with a special event at the ITC Ratnadipa in Colombo, where journalists were recognized with awards for the most views and engagements on social media, as well as videos that inspired change and action.
The initiative, supported by USAID, IREX and Civil Society and Media Stand aims to give visibility to stories and voices often overlooked by mainstream media.
Launched to empower individuals and highlight grassroots issues, CitizensConnect reaches an audience of 7 million social media accounts monthly, driving awareness and inspiring positive change.
The platform celebrates the contributions of passionate storytellers and changemakers, showcasing their role as citizen journalists in amplifying diverse perspectives.
