Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte has been arrested by the Colpetty Police yesterday evening (6) around 6.30 pm due to an accident caused by him while driving his vehicle.
A senior official of the Police Media Division said that Ratwatte was instrumental in causing an accident under the influence of liquor while driving his Defender jeep knocking on a car in the Colpetty Police Zone.
Ratwatte has knocked his jeep on the rear end of a car driven by a lawyer at the Colpetty Round-about. Even though the lawyer driving the car was willing to settle the incident amicably, Ratwatte has got off his Defender and walked up to the driver of the car and had got into a heated argument with him which led to both parties going to the Colpetty police station where Ratwatte was tested positive for drunk driving.
Thereafter, Lohan Ratwatte has been arrested by the Colpetty Police on charges of drunk driving.
Ratwatte who is under police arrest was to be produced before the Aluthkade Traffic Court on charges of drunk driving.
