Padaviya shooting : Seven suspects arrested so far

Seven suspects have been arrested so far in connection to the murder of an elderly woman in the Padaviya area last week.

A group of unidentified men on a motorcycle had shot dead a woman at her residence in the Balawewa area in Padaviya on Thursday night. 

The Sri Lanka Army said upon information from the Army Intelligence Unit, the Police had arrested four suspects involved in the murder.

The suspects were arrested from the Ehetugaswewa, Kiriibbanwewa, and Padaviya areas during a joint raid conducted by the Pulmodei Police STF and Padaviya Police. 

Following the arrest, the Police seized one T-56 firearm, eight T-56 bullets, a magazine, five 9. mm bullets, one revolver, 65g ICE, 113g heroin, an electronic scale, 01 motorcycle, and four mobile phones.

Further interrogation of the suspects had led to the arrest of three more suspects on suspicion of involvement in the murder. (Islandnews)
