Sri Lanka Navy celebrates 74 years of distinction with 2,138 advancements


The Sri Lanka Navy, celebrated for its rich legacy as the nation’s maritime defense force, marks its 74th Anniversary today (9).

Under the capable guidance of the Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, a range of activities are being carried out across all Naval Commands, emphasizing the Navy’s time-honored customs and religious observances as part of the commemorative events.

In a statement, the Sri Lanka Navy announced that in honor of the anniversary, a total of 2,138 senior and junior sailors have been promoted to higher ranks as of today (9), based on the recommendation of Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The promotions include 158 to Ordinary Seaman, 279 to Able Seaman, 406 to Leading Seaman, 391 to Petty Officer, 539 to Chief Petty Officer, 354 to Fleet Chief Petty Officer, and 11 to Master Chief Petty Officer.
