Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte, who had been detained for causing a traffic collision while driving under the influence of alcohol, has been released on bail.
The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court granted him bail today (9), following his presentation in court.
Ratwatte was taken into custody on December 6 after an accident at the Kollupitiya Junction, where his Defender vehicle crashed into another car. Investigations confirmed he was intoxicated at the time. Additionally, he was accused of threatening the victim involved in the incident.
He was remanded on December 7 after appearing before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court and remained in custody until December 9. Interestingly, Ratwatte had been granted bail just a day earlier, on December 5, in an unrelated case.
