The owner of the Galle Marvels team in the Lanka T10 Super League, who was arrested over allegations of match-fixing, has been remanded.
The Galle Marvels’ owner, Prem Thakkar who is an Indian national, was remanded until 16 December 2024, by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.
He was arrested by Sri Lanka’s Sports Police Unit yesterday following allegations of a fixing approach.
The arrest was made after a foreign player lodged a complaint, claiming to have been approached with a suspicious offer related to match-fixing.
Authorities are now investigating the incident, which has raised concerns about the integrity of the inaugural Lanka T10 tournament. (Islandnews)
