Indian actor Allu Arjun, a leading figure in the Telugu film industry, was arrested and later released on bail after a tragic incident at his film’s premiere in Hyderabad. The crush claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman and left her son critically injured.
The incident occurred last week when Arjun made an unannounced appearance at the screening, drawing a massive crowd. Police charged the actor, his security team, and the theatre management with culpable homicide, holding them accountable for the chaos.
Initially, a local court ordered 14 days of police custody for Arjun, but hours later, the high court intervened and granted him bail.
Theatre owner and two staff members had already been arrested earlier in connection with the tragedy. On Friday, police detained Arjun at his residence and presented him before a court, sparking widespread attention on crowd management and accountability at high-profile events.
The investigation into the incident continues.
