Sri Lanka Customs has flagged significant quality issues in two large consignments of imported rice.
The first consignment, totaling 50,000 kilograms, was found to be infested with weevils (commonly known as *gullo*), raising serious concerns about food safety.
Meanwhile, another 25,000 kilograms of rice from a separate consignment was identified with discrepancies in product information labels, potentially violating import regulations.
Authorities have taken swift action, instructing the respective importers to re-export the defective stocks. Failure to comply will result in the confiscation of these shipments by Customs. (NewsWire)
