Sri Lanka registered a comfortable win over Malaysia in their first game of Women’s U19 Asia Cup 2024 played today (15th December) at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Having won the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first but a batting collapse saw them restricted to 44 runs for 4 wickets at the end of the first 10 overs.

However, Sri Lanka skipper Manudi Nanayakkara and no. 3 batter Limansa Thilakaratne resurrected the innings with an unbeaten 109-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Nanayakkara top scored with a knock of 74 runs off 40 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes while Thilakaratne contributed with 41 runs off 46 balls with 4 fours.
In reply, the hosts made only 59/6 in the allotted 20 overs handing a massive win for the visitors. Hiruni Hansika finished with tidy figures of 2/2 in her 3-over spell.
