FRESH JAPANESE strawberries are set to return to Philippine markets as both countries agreed to lift the export ban.
Through social media posts, the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines said the export ban of fresh strawberries to the Philippines was lifted on Dec. 15, as agreed upon by local quarantine authorities and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan.
The previous restriction was imposed due to concerns about pests linked to fresh strawberries from Japan.
In response, the MAFF conducted extensive technical discussions with Philippine quarantine authorities, following requests from Japanese production areas. — Chloe Marie A. Hufana
