Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage summoned officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to the Ministry of Sports yesterday (16th December) to discuss the current status of cricket in the island.
The meeting aimed at the plans of developing facilities for cricket, ways of improving cricket stadiums in a sustainable manner and methods of utilizing cricket to promote tourism in Sri Lanka.

The minister’s attention was also drawn into finding immediate solutions to address the issues in the current system in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
The discussion further focused on getting support from SLC to develop other sports in the country and strategies to develop sports in schools including cricket.

Deputy Minister of Sports Sugath Thilakaratne and Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara also attended the meeting.
