Cabinet Spokesman Health and Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said yesterday that the public will soon find out whether Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) MPs sought assistance from the President’s Fund, as alleged by SJB MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, once the remaining list is released.
Responding to a question by a journalist at the weekly Cabinet media briefing, the Minister stated that he had already disclosed the list of Parliamentarians who received funds from the President’s Fund between 2005 and 2024 and assured that the remaining names would be presented in Parliament soon.
“In addition, some members and the chairman of a Pradeshiya sabha and ministers of Provincial Councils had also received money from the fund. The complete list will be tabled in Parliament shortly,” he said.
When questioned about MP Jayasekara’s claim regarding JVP MPs, the Minister responded, “Except Dayasiri, all the other MPs accepted that they have received funds from the President’s Fund. He is trying to point fingers at others without accepting the truth. The details will be clear once the rest of the list is released.”
