A husband was killed and his wife injured when an unidentified individual opened fire at the couple in their residence in Maraluwawa, Wellawa, last night (24).
The couple was rushed to Kurunegala Hospital, where the 32-year-old husband succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was a resident of Maraluwawa.
The 30-year-old wife is receiving treatment for her injuries. The couple had been temporarily residing in the area, according to the police.
The motive for the shooting and information about the suspect are yet to be revealed. Wellawa Police are continuing investigations to apprehend the perpetrator.
