Bangladesh Women’s U19 registered a hard-fought win over Sri Lanka Women’s U19 in the third T20 of the four-match series played today (8th January) at Surrey Grounds, Maggona.
After winning the toss, Sri Lankan skipper Manudi Nanayakkara opted to bat first and managed to post 109 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Sri Lanka’s no. 3 Dahami Senethma and No. 7 batter Hiruni Hansika chipped in with 24 runs each to take hosts to a competitive total.
Sri Lanka started off brilliantly with the ball, picking up 2 wickets in the first over itself but the visitors managed to recover well building some vital partnerships in the middle-order.
Although, Sri Lankan bowlers kept the pressure on in the latter part of the innings, Bangladesh managed to hold their nerves to go past the line at the end.
The fourth and final match of the T20 series between the sides will be played tomorrow (9th January) at the BRC Grounds, Colombo.
