The rainy condition is expected to enhance over the Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces and in the Matale and Kandy districts, in the next few days starting today, according to the Department of Meteorology. Â
Accordingly, showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces and Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts today, while fairly heavy showers above 75mm can be expected at some places.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and in the Kandy district in the afternoon or night.
Fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, Eastern, North-central and North-western provinces and in the Hambantota district.
Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces in the morning.
Meanwhile, showers may occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Kankesanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and Batticaloa.
Winds will be north-easterly and speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Puttalam, Kankasanthurai and Trincomalee.
