A suspect has been arrested by the Walana Central Anti-corruption task force for registering an illegally assembled vehicle using fake documents.
Initially, a suspect was apprehended on July 13, 2023, in Kadawatha, while driving a vehicle with fake number plates. A search of his vehicle and residence uncovered various documents related to 404 vehicles. He was handed over to the Kadawatha police along with the seized documents.
Further investigations led to the discovery of an illegally assembled SUV with falsified registration plates in Halpe, Mirigama, on December 26, 2024. On January 10, 2025, another suspect, a resident of Ganemulla, was arrested for preparing and submitting fake registration documents to the Motor Vehicle Department.
Police are conducting further investigations.
