A 19-year-old schoolgirl was abducted in Daulagala, Kandy on Jan. 11 while traveling to a private class. Police said the suspects used a black van for the abduction.
CCTV footage showed the suspect forcing the girl into the vehicle. A bystander tried to intervene but was assaulted and thrown from the van.
The suspect, identified as the victim’s cousin, abandoned the van in Polonnaruwa, where it was recovered using a GPS tracker.
Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the girl. (NewsWire)
