Sri Lankan pacer Binura Fernando refrained from taking the field for the Chittagong Kings in today’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match due to unpaid dues, raising fresh concerns about the financial accountability of the league.
Fernando, who has represented the Kings in three matches this season, remains with the squad despite opting out of today’s game as a protest against the unresolved payment issue.
The Chittagong Kings now join the list of BPL franchises accused of failing to honor player contracts, with similar allegations recently surfacing against the Durbar Rajshahi franchise.
Payment issues in the BPL are not new. Over the years, several Sri Lankan players have voiced frustrations over unpaid dues, including amounts pending from previous editions of the league.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by the Chittagong Kings or BPL organizers addressing the matter. (NewsWire)
