The police have launched an investigation following the circulation of a video on social media that allegedly shows several officers sleeping while on duty.
Commenting on the matter, Police Spokesman SSP Buddika Manatunga said the incident is being taken seriously.
“A video is circulating on social media showing several police officers behaving inappropriately by sleeping at a certain location during their duty hours,” SSP Manatunga said.
He added that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has expressed displeasure over the incident to senior officers in the relevant division and directed the Police Special Investigations Unit to conduct an inquiry.
Strict disciplinary action will be taken against those found responsible, SSP Manatunga added. (NewsWire)
