A 23-year-old youth has been arrested in connection to the shooting incident reported in the Badovita area in Mount Lavinia on Sunday (Jan 19), in which a 24-year-old youth was killed.Â
The Western Province South District Crimes Division arrested the suspect in the Halpethota area in Baddegama yesterday, based on a tip-off.
The suspect, who is a resident of Dehiwala, has confessed that the shooting had been orchestrated by an underworld figure residing overseas.
Investigations have revealed that the weapon and motorcycle to be used in the shooting and lodgings for the suspect had been provided by the mastermind, while the suspect had been briefed by another individual on the road to use for the crime.Â
The Police seized the motorcycle used in the crime, 05.80g of ICE narcotics, and Rs. 100,900 of cash from the suspects’ possession.
A suspect who was previously arrested in connection to the murder is currently detained and being questioned over the incident. (Islandnews)
