Sri Lanka Customs issued a statement on Monday clarifying reports about the release of 323 imported cargo containers without inspection.
The statement, which includes eight key points, details the procedures followed when releasing goods and explains delays in inspecting certain shipments.
Customs officials said none of the containers were imported under the name of Expo Lanka.
They also confirmed there was no risk of illegal imports of firearms, gold, or narcotics, nor any loss of customs revenue due to the containers’ release. (Islandnews)
