Five illegally assembled motor vehicles valued at over Rs. 70 million have been seized during a raid in Kalawana by the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit.
The operation was carried out based on a tip-off that a wealthy vehicle dealer, known as “Polkotuwe Gadda,” was running an illegal business selling vehicles with fraudulent documents, including fake chassis and engine numbers.
At the time of the raid, the vehicles had been cleverly concealed. The suspect, reportedly panicked during the operation, fainted and was admitted to Ratnapura Base Hospital. (Islandnews)
