The six newborn lion cubs at the Ridiyagama Safari Park in Hambantota were officially named on Wednesday (Feb 12).
The names of the three-month-old lion cubs were selected from around 4000 names that had been suggested by the public.
The single male lion cub was named Megha, while the five female cubs were named Tara, Agra, Bhumi, Akira and Elsa.
The names of the lion cubs were announced during an exhibition held under the patronage of the Department of National Zoological Gardens Director General Chandana Rajapaksa. (Islandnews)
