Three suspects, including a woman, were arrested in connection with a car robbery that took place in the Pallama Police Division on Feb. 10, police said.
The arrests were made on Feb. 15 in Dambadeniya following an investigation by the Puttalam Division Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The stolen car was recovered.
Police later arrested a fourth suspect in Uswetakeiyawa for possessing the stolen car driver’s mobile phone.
The suspects include two men, aged 21 and 24, from Dambadeniya and Uswetakeiyawa, and a 31-year-old woman from Adigama. Investigations revealed that they had hired the car under false pretenses before assaulting the driver with sharp weapons and stealing the vehicle.
Police said the main suspect was also wanted for a three-wheeler robbery in the Meegoda Police Division and a burglary in the Pannala Police Division, where valuables worth Rs. 1.68 million were stolen. The stolen three-wheeler had been recovered by Pannala Police.
