Cabinet approval to present Budget 2025 to Parliament today

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the presentation of the Appropriation Bill for the 2025 financial year to Parliament today, according to Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa. 

The Appropriation Bill for the 2025 financial year was approved for presentation in Parliament during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held this morning. 

The National Peoples’ Power (NPP) Government led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will present the 2025 Budget to Parliament this morning, with the President making his inaugural budget speech.

The Appropriation Bill for the 2025 financial year outlines the government’s proposed expenditure for the year from 01 January 2025 to 31 December 2025.

The total estimated government expenditure for the said period for 2025 has been set at Rs. 4,218 billion. (Islandnews)
