Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa today raised concerns in Parliament over incidents of members of the National People’s Power (NPP) threatening citizens in various areas.
Addressing the Parliament today, MP Rajapaksa revealed that a video has widely been circulated on social media of an NPP member threatening a resident of Matale.
He further said that similar incidents have been reported from the Akuressa and Angunukolapelessa as well.
MP Rajapaksa said people claiming to be government representatives are threatening people expressing views against the government.
He called on the government to refrain from oppressing the people and controlling the media and further urged the government to educate its rural representatives. (Islandnews)
