Jaffna MP Archchuna Ramanathan has requested security to be provided to him in light of today’s shooting at the Hulftsdorp court complex, raising concerns about potential threats to lawmakers.
“Couple of weeks back, I was threatened by a couple of people in Jaffna. I’m planning to go back to Jaffna after these sessions. I would like to request the honourable minister of Police to at least provide security during the public sessions,” the MP said, raising a point of order in Parliament.
Responding to the MP, the Deputy Speaker assured Ramanathan that his request will be conveyed to the subject minister. (Islandnews)
