All Tamil Government schools in the Uva and Sabaragamuwa Provinces are to remain closed on Thursday (27 Feb) this week.
According to the Provincial Education Secretaries, the schools are to be closed on the day following Maha Shivratri Day.
On Wednesday (26 Feb), devotees of Lord Shiva will observe the auspicious festival of Maha Shivratri.
As such, all Tamil Government schools in the Uva and Sabaragamuwa Provinces will be closed on the following day of Maha Shivratri Day.
Earlier, the Governor of the Eastern Province also announced that Tamil medium schools in the province will remain closed on Thursday (27 Feb) in view of Maha Shivratri Day.
Making the announcement last week, the Governor of the Eastern Province said that the missed academic activities will be covered on 01 March 2025. (Islandnews)
