Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala has called for a report from the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) regarding the deaths of the suspects involved in the recent shooting in Kotahena.
Minister Wijepala told Islandnews, that the Acting IGP has been requested to submit the report as soon as possible.Â
On 21 February, two individuals on a motorcycle had shot a 38-year-old man at a mobile phone shop on Kotahena Street and fled the area.
The two suspects linked to the shooting were arrested on the same day along with a T-56 assault rifle and the motorcycle used in the shooting.Â
Later that night, officers took the suspects to another location after receiving information about a concealed weapon.Â
As the suspects had attempted to fire at the Police, the officers were prompted to return fire during which both suspects sustained injuries and died at the hospital. (Islandnews)
