Two buses have reportedly collided along the Colombo – Kandy main road this morning (11) resulting in injuries to at least 18 passengers.
Accordingly, the accident had reportedly taken place at around 8.15 a.m. today in the Walakadayawa area in Uthuwankanda along the Colombo–Kandy road today.
Both buses involved in the accident belong to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB).
Kegalle Police stated that around 18 people were admitted to the Kegalle and Mawanella hospitals due to sustaining injuries from the accident.
The incident occurred when a bus travelling from Panadura to Kandy crashed into the rear of another bus that was heading from Kegalle to Mawanella.
Police suspect that the accident was caused by a technical fault with the bus arriving from Panadura which led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
