Wasteful Sri Lanka play-out hostile draw; ends series without a win!

Myanmar vs Sri Lanka - 2nd Friendly game

Sri Lanka ended their 2-game friendly series in dismal fashion against Myanmar, playing out a 0-0 draw against the hosts in the second game at the Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon, Myanmar.

The visitors made three changes following their defeat in the first game as Anujan Rajendram, Sacayaradjy Steven and Faizer Aman came into the starting XI in place of Harsha Fernando, Chalana Chameera and Wade Dekker.

Sri Lanka got off to a good start this time around as opportunities were plentiful in the first 10 minutes of the game, however, the visitors were wasteful in front of goal, letting them all go a-stray as the home side managed to get back onus. and momentum.

The hosts themselves came close time and time again in the first half, however, the much improved Sri Lanka defense and wall at the back, skipper Sujan Perera held first to take the game 0-0 into half time.

The second half began in similar fashion as the visitors did not make their chances count as Myanmar held on by the scruff of their teeth to ensure the game was in the balance going into the final half hour.

Sri Lanka’s chances increased as Lwin Moe Aung was given his marching orders for a second yellow in the 70th minute.

Sri Lanka pressed hard in hope of a goal, but the Lankans creativity and execution were not up to the mark as they failed to break down the Myanmar defense.

Leon Perera of Sri Lanka was given his marching orders in the 90+1 minute of the game as both teams were numerically brought down to the same number by the Laos Referee as the game drew to a fiery nil-all draw, ending the 2- game FIFA friendly series in favor of the home team.
