Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne says that the government will provide an additional Rs. 2 per kilo of paddy handed over to government storage facilities, supplementing the guaranteed purchase price.
Speaking during an inspection visit to the Morakatiya Paddy Storage Complex in Embilipitiya on Saturday (18), he urged farmers to contribute at least 500kg of paddy to these facilities.
The Deputy Minister highlighted that the paddy collected would be processed into rice and sold to consumers at reduced prices, ensuring affordability.
“We are committed to ending the rice mafia and ensuring fair practices,” he added. (NewsWire)
