The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning and heavy rain in several districts, effective until midnight today.
Accordingly, the prevailing showery condition in the Northern province and Trincomalee and Anuradhapura districts is expected to continue further.
Heavy showers above 100 mm accompanied by severe lightning are likely in some places. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity. (Islandnews)
