In conjunction with Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakon’s justice operation, Peliyagoda Headquarters Chief Inspector NA Kaluwitharana and other officers conducted this raid last week based on the information received regarding women engaged in prostitution for the use of drugs.
Accordingly, twenty five women have been arrested and steps have been taken to refer them for medical tests with the permission of Colombo No. 05 Magistrate Court.
Thus, in the blood samples taken from these women at the Colombo National Hospital, all twenty-five women were diagnosed with social diseases such as gonorrhea and herpes.
The court has allowed them to undergo treatment and rehabilitation under the medical supervision of the prison hospital.
The Peliyagoda Police request that the persons who have had sexual relations with these women from the Peliyagoda police domain should take care of their physical health and get medical tests done. Also, the police have mentioned to be careful when associating with street prostitutes or women engaged in prostitution.
