The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Miyon Lee, met with the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. (Dr.) Asoka Ranwala, on the 4th of December at the Parliament. The Secretary General of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, was also present at the occasion.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea extended her congratulations to the newly appointed Speaker. She highlighted the longstanding relationship between South Korea and Sri Lanka and expressed her commitment to further strengthening their ties. The Ambassador assured continued support for Sri Lanka’s development and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to sustain the bilateral relationship.
Additionally, she mentioned ongoing projects in Sri Lanka and expressed hopes to expedite their completion through discussions with the new government. Specifically, she noted that the Kandy Tunnel project is now in its final stages of commencement.
Furthermore, the Ambassador underscored her aspirations to enhance inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries and to implement leadership and capacity-building programs for Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff.
In response, the Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the strong relationship between Sri Lanka and South Korea. He conveyed his hope for continued support from South Korea in achieving these shared goals.
