Army Soldier’s Rs. 60M Kush mission fails at Airport


Two airline passengers who attempted to bring 6.630 kilograms of “Kush” narcotics into the country were apprehended at the Katunayake Airport.

The two suspects were arrested today (Jan 20) by officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau.

The seized “Kush” narcotics are reported to have a street value exceeding Rs. 60 million.

The first suspect taken into custody is a 28-year-old male residing in Katuwana, Hambantota, currently serving at the Kosgama, Salawa Army Camp.

The second suspect is a 30-year-old female from Maha Oya, Ampara, who is employed at an insurance company.

The male suspect had arrived at the Katunayake Airport today from Bangkok, Thailand. (NewsWire)
