Sri Lanka’s Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has issued an advisory alerting the public to be vigilant of fake social media advertisements offering unclaimed luggage for sale at the airport premises in Katunayake.
Issuing a statement on Facebook, the BIA said it has been made aware of unofficial social media pages and websites pretending to be BIA and publishing social media posts offering unclaimed luggage for sale.
The BIA informed that this information was entirely false and not endorsed by the Airport & Aviation Services Sri Lanka Private Ltd.
“We urge everyone to be vigilant in responding to such advertisements with offers on specific products claiming to be from Bandaranaike International Airport. If you see such advertisements, do report the pages as scams,” the BIA urged.
