Chinese Food Carnival in Colombo concludes


The China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka hosted the “Chinese Food Carnival” on Wednesday with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Ruwan Ranasinghe, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong, and around 200 guests including individuals from all walks of life in Sri Lanka and personnel from diplomatic missions participated in the event held at the China Cultural Center Colombo 7.

With promotion of culture and tourism as its theme, the event also saw representatives of Chinese enterprises participating. The event is supervised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka and was jointly hosted by co-organized by Association of Overseas Chinese in Sri Lanka, Lumbini Confucius Classroom, Confucius Institute at University of Kelaniya, Confucius Institute at University of Colombo, Bank of China Colombo Branch, Sinopec Lanka Energy Company, and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Ltd.

The Chinese food tasting session was among the highlights of the entire event where 10 food market stalls were arranged displaying the diverse lifestyles in China. In addition, Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) in Colombo showcased diverse performance programs.
